Time Commitment

  • How Much Time is Required?
    • Volunteer opportunities range from short-term commitments (several hours/month) to long-term committee lead roles (Board members/Directors). The KCPMI Chapter has many different opportunities available, and the hours and skills required for each opportunity vary.  We have volunteer opportunities to fit everyone's busy schedule.

    • The PMI® Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS) is a searchable, centralized, and integrated volunteer web application and database available to current and prospective volunteers.   You can search for opportunities to volunteer at our Chapter or worldwide today:
    • Access the VRMS site: https://vrms.pmi.org
    • Login to the site using your PMI.org username and password. If you do not have an account, register today!
    • Search for the chapter in the Find an Opportunity section by selecting the KC Mid America Chapter in the Chapters/Global Operations Center
    • Apply for any open opportunity by selecting Apply Now

What Happens Next?

    • All volunteer applications are sent to the hiring manager listed in the Opportunity Description, who will contact the applicants and make a selection. If you are selected for the position, you will receive an email offering you the volunteer position. If you do get the offer, please click the 'Accept' button. If you do not receive the offer, please apply for other opportunities.

Opportunity of the Month

Director of ACP Prep

This volunteer is responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of classes that help PMI-ACP candidates successfully pass their PMI-ACP certification test.

The Director leads a committee that selects, obtains and maintains suitable curriculum for the class, ensures that qualified volunteer instructors are found and scheduled, and reserves acceptable locations to hold the class.

Volunteer of the Month

  • Volunteer of the Month Program
    • The PMI KC Mid America Chapter Volunteer of the Month Program is a forum for Board members to nominate and recognized those volunteers who have gone above and beyond in a volunteer role. Winners receive free admission to the next chapter dinner meeting as a Board guest, a certificate of appreciation, and a small gift. No special action is needed to be selected, other than fulfilling the criteria below.
    • Selection Criteria - nominees should:
        • Be a current chapter member in good standing.
        • Be an active volunteer who has been a continuous chapter volunteer for at least 12 months
        • Be proficient in all assigned volunteer tasks.
        • Demonstrate “above and beyond” behavior in carrying out a specific chapter goal or objective.
        • Have a positive attitude toward the chapter.
        • Engage others in events, committee work, and so forth whenever possible.
        • Has not been a recipient in the past two years.
