April 2018 Print

From the President

Thanks to all the volunteers for their support in making 2017 a great year for our chapter.

Highlights of the year included: starting the first ever chapter “Project of Year” award (congratulations to Fike Corporation for winning it!); and starting the full cycle of our Mentoring program. In addition our membership grew by 7% in 2017.

We have started 2018 on a high note. The Board and Directors met in January for our annual planning meeting and decided to focus on three key initiatives in 2018: ensuring chapter sustainability; sponsorship growth; and outreach to millennials.

To maintain chapter sustainability, we will be proposing changes to our bylaws. Watch for an email from PMI in near future. We are also working on moving up the chapter election to improve new board members transition. In addition to all the great programs our chapter currently offers, we will be adding new programs this year (i.e., Career fair, Encatus – Community outreach event, speed mentoring).

Please reach out to me with any suggestions, ideas or concerns you may have. And if we have not yet had the chance to meet in person, I look forward to doing so at an upcoming event.

I look forward to working with you to make 2018 an even better year for our chapter – together we can make the difference.

Best regards,

Anjula Mittal

Board Election News

Election News

The Board has approved moving the board position elections to occur earlier in the year.  This will allow a longer transition period for incoming board members, ensuring a smoother hand-off of board position responsibilities.  The new election dated is to be announced.

Change in Board Positions
We are revamping the board positions in order to streamline the Chapter Leadership Team and add more Director-level leadership positions.  This will allow more volunteer opportunities and exposure to the activities that take place in order to ensure the chapter is run as efficiently and as smoothly as possible.  This will require a change to the Chapter by-laws and approval from PMI Global.  More news on this exciting Board Position transformation will be forthcoming in the Chapter Dinner Meetings and on the Chapter Website.
